Summer – My Foundation Bitch
Summer finished her Championship (CH) in the fall of 2016 with Hilde Haakensen. Along the way, she earned several Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex wins over some very nice specials. That same year, she placed 3rd in her class at the SSCA National Specialty in Houston. The following year, in 2017, Summer was awarded Select Bitch at the prestigious AKC/Royal Canin National Championship.
In 2018, Summer had her first litter sired by GCHB Blackhawk Where’s Waldo. Later that year, she returned to the show ring with Katrina, where the team picked up multiple breed wins and even some group placements. At the 2019 SSCA National Specialty held at Purina Farms in Missouri, Summer made two cuts in the highly competitive specials ring. That fall, she and Katrina finished her Grand Championship (GCH)—and on the very same day, earned a Group 4 placement in the Owner-Handler Group.
Beyond the conformation ring, Summer has proven to be a versatile and enthusiastic worker. She has earned her BCAT title in FAST CAT and her Trick Dog Novice title. With her strong natural scenting ability, Barn Hunt is also on the horizon. Scent work runs in the family, coming from her sire’s side—her sire is GCHS CH Cortaillod Dexter, and her grandsire is CH Cortaillod Quinta Do Portal. Summer’s dam, CH Julia Sugarbaker of Elkhart, also contributes to her solid foundation and well-balanced temperament.
Summer set the foundation for my breeding program. She has an excellent coat, along with a square and robust body—qualities she consistently passes on to her offspring.
On the lighter side, Summer’s favorite toys are her ducks, which she always keeps close by, especially on road trips to shows.
